The India Game Developer Conference (IGDC) 2026 opens in Chennai on October 28, bringing together game developers, publishers, investors and technology companies. The four-day event runs until October 31 at the Chennai Trade Centre. Organisers expect more than 10,000 attendees, with a strong focus on independent game studios, investment opportunities and India’s growing gaming industry.

The 18th edition aims to help Indian developers showcase original games, build industry connections and reach international markets. The event also creates opportunities for publishers and investors to discover emerging studios.

IGDC 2026 focuses on India’s indie game developers
This year’s conference places independent developers at the centre of its programme. The event will showcase 60 indie developers and studios, giving creators opportunities to present their projects to industry professionals.

The initiative aims to help smaller studios build sustainable businesses and develop original intellectual property. Developers can also connect with publishers who may help bring their games to wider audiences.

India’s gaming ecosystem has attracted growing interest from international companies. IGDC aims to strengthen those connections and create more opportunities for homegrown studios.

Investors and publishers connect with Indian studios
IGDC 2026 will feature an Investor–Publisher Connect programme designed to link game developers with potential investors and publishing partners. Organisers have identified 32 participating organisations for the initiative.

Participating companies and organisations include publishers such as Devolver Digital, Headup, Voodoo, Miniclip and KRAFTON. Indian gaming companies Nazara Technologies and Felicity Games will also participate, alongside investors including Lumikai, Makers Fund, Elevation and Prime Venture Partners.

These meetings could help studios explore funding, publishing agreements and international distribution opportunities. The programme also gives investors a closer look at emerging games and development teams from India.

IGDC Playground opens to the public
The conference will shift towards public gaming experiences on October 30 and 31 through IGDC Playground. Visitors will be able to try games from Indian studios and meet the developers behind them.

The public programme will feature gaming activities, esports, console gaming, virtual reality, Pokémon, anime and cosplay. It will also include career-focused activities for people interested in game design, programming, animation and production.

This format gives players an opportunity to discover new games while helping independent developers reach audiences beyond the industry.

Major gaming companies support IGDC 2026
The Game Developers Association of India (GDAI) organises the conference. The Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu (ELCOT) powers the event, with Nazara Technologies, KRAFTON India and Tencent among its partners.

The conference will feature industry discussions, networking opportunities, exhibitions and sessions covering game development, design, publishing and investment.

Chennai’s return as host follows the 2025 edition, when the Tamil Nadu government signed agreements with Nazara Technologies, Lakshya Digital and Reliance Games. The state’s participation reflects its broader ambition to develop its animation, visual effects, gaming and comics sectors.

India’s gaming industry looks for global opportunities
India has a large gaming audience, creating opportunities for developers to build games for domestic and international markets. However, studios also need access to funding, publishing networks, experienced talent and global distribution channels.

IGDC aims to address these challenges by connecting creators with companies and investors. Its focus on independent studios could help more Indian developers turn original ideas into commercially viable games.

The conference also gives international participants an opportunity to explore India’s development talent and gaming market.

As IGDC 2026 continues through October 31, its showcases and business meetings will offer a closer look at the projects and partnerships shaping India’s game development industry.
