Phantom Blade Zero has recorded an impressive launch on Steam, with its concurrent player count surpassing 700,000 on October 29. Developed by Chinese studio S-GAME, the action RPG has quickly climbed to the top of Steam’s best-selling games chart.
According to SteamDB, the game reached an all-time peak of 723,876 concurrent players on launch day. Gaming publication Gadgets 360 also reported that the title surpassed 640,000 concurrent players as its audience continued to grow.
The figures measure players playing simultaneously on Steam. They do not represent total copies sold or the game’s entire audience across platforms.
Phantom Blade Zero tops Steam charts
The strong debut has put Phantom Blade Zero among the most-played games on Steam. It also reached the platform’s number-one position on the best-selling games chart, according to SteamDB data reported by Gadgets 360.
The game is available on PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, as well as on PlayStation 5. Because Sony does not publicly disclose comparable live player counts, the Steam figures do not capture the game’s full audience.
The launch follows significant anticipation for the title, which combines fast-paced melee combat with Chinese wuxia-inspired storytelling and a dark fantasy setting.
What is Phantom Blade Zero about?
Phantom Blade Zero follows Soul, an assassin framed for the murder of his master. After suffering a devastating injury, Soul has only 66 days to live as he attempts to uncover a conspiracy and clear his name.
The game blends martial arts combat, cinematic action and a distinctive visual style that its developers describe as “kungfupunk.” Players can use a range of weapons and combat techniques while exploring the game’s fictional world.
The game is developed by S-GAME and runs on Unreal Engine 5. Its combat system emphasises dodging, deflecting, counterattacking and chaining attacks together.
Day-one patch addresses technical issues
S-GAME also released a day-one patch of approximately 5GB. According to Gadgets 360, the update includes improvements to ray tracing and path tracing performance, alongside fixes for several bugs.
The launch-day player milestone gives Phantom Blade Zero an impressive early position among 2026’s single-player releases. Its performance over the coming days will show whether it can maintain the momentum as more players join over the first weekend.
