Sony may be preparing new PlayStation gaming hardware. Recent Wi-Fi Alliance listings reveal two unannounced devices. The discovery has sparked rumors about an updated PlayStation Portal and a possible PS6 handheld console.

New PlayStation Console Models Appear Online

The Wi-Fi Alliance documents list two devices with model numbers CFI-Y2000 and CFI-Y2015. Both devices fall under the “Gaming Console/Peripheral” category.

The listings do not reveal their full specifications. However, both devices reportedly run Android 15. This detail matches the Android-based software platform used by the current PlayStation Portal.

Sony has not officially announced either device. The listings only suggest that the company may be working on new hardware.

PlayStation Portal OLED Upgrade Rumors

Gaming fans have expected a PlayStation Portal upgrade for some time. Earlier leaks suggested that Sony could introduce an OLED display.

Another rumor points to a 120Hz refresh rate. This would double the current Portal’s maximum refresh rate. An OLED screen and smoother visuals could improve the handheld gaming experience.

However, the latest certification documents do not confirm these features. Sony has yet to reveal the device’s design or specifications.

Could Sony Launch a PS6 Handheld Console?

The appearance of two new device models has also renewed speculation about a dedicated PlayStation handheld.

The current PlayStation Portal primarily streams games from a PlayStation 5. It does not function like a traditional standalone gaming console.

A new handheld could offer a different experience. It might run supported games directly on the device without relying on a PS5 for streaming.

Some industry rumors also suggest that Sony could launch a handheld alongside the PlayStation 6. Leaks have mentioned AMD’s potential Zen 6 CPU and RDNA graphics architecture. Sony has not confirmed these hardware details.

PlayStation Handheld Release Date and Price

Sony has not announced a release date or price for either device. Wi-Fi certification can indicate progress in hardware development, but it does not guarantee an imminent launch.

The two listings could represent updated PlayStation Portal models. Alternatively, Sony might be developing a separate handheld console.

Gaming fans will have to wait for an official announcement. Until then, the devices’ features, prices and launch timelines remain unconfirmed.
