CONTROL Resonant sales have surpassed one million copies worldwide, making the action RPG the fastest-selling game in Remedy Entertainment’s 31-year history. The Finnish developer announced the milestone on October 15, following the game’s global digital launch in September. The achievement marks a strong start for the sequel to the original Control.
CONTROL Resonant achieves major sales milestone
Remedy Entertainment confirmed that worldwide sales of CONTROL Resonant had exceeded one million copies. The game launched digitally on September 24, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The milestone makes CONTROL Resonant the fastest-selling release in the studio’s history. Remedy CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon described the achievement as a strong start, thanking players and the development team for their support.
The game also represents Remedy’s first self-published release of this scale, giving the sales performance added significance for the company.
How CONTROL Resonant builds on the franchise
CONTROL Resonant follows the 2019 game Control and introduces Dylan Faden as its main protagonist. The story takes place in a supernatural crisis affecting Manhattan, where Dylan confronts threats that distort reality.
Unlike its predecessor’s shooting-focused combat, the sequel adopts an action RPG approach built around melee combat, character progression and a shapeshifting weapon.
The game launched during a competitive release period, making its early sales performance an important milestone for Remedy.
What the milestone means for Remedy
The success of CONTROL Resonant strengthens Remedy’s position as it continues developing its Control and Alan Wake franchises. The company has said it intends to build on both series and expand their long-term potential.
Physical editions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S also became available on October 15, creating another opportunity to reach players.
However, reaching one million copies sold does not necessarily mean the game has become profitable. Development, publishing and marketing costs will also determine its overall financial performance.
For now, CONTROL Resonant has delivered a significant launch milestone for Remedy, setting a new sales record for the studio and establishing a strong foundation for the franchise’s future.
