Indian artificial intelligence startup Hunar.AI has secured ₹40 crore in Series A funding to expand its voice-based AI platform, which helps companies recruit, onboard and train frontline workers. The funding round was led by Blume Ventures, with participation from several other investors.

Founded in 2022, the Bengaluru-based startup develops conversational AI agents that help businesses manage recruitment and employee engagement. The latest investment brings its total funding to ₹65 crore.

How Hunar.AI automates recruitment

Hiring large numbers of employees across multiple cities can require recruiters to make repeated calls, screen applicants, schedule interviews and coordinate onboarding. These tasks can become particularly demanding for companies in delivery, retail, e-commerce and logistics.

Hunar.AI aims to simplify these processes through voice calls, WhatsApp and chat-based interactions. Its AI agents can assist with candidate screening, interview coordination, onboarding, training and ongoing communication with workers.

The platform supports more than 20 languages, including Tamil, Telugu and Kannada, according to Inc42. This multilingual approach allows businesses to communicate with candidates in their preferred languages and automate routine interactions across different locations.

Blume Ventures leads the funding round

Blume Ventures led the ₹40 crore Series A round. Other participants included Hyderabad Angels Fund, Together Fund, Seedstars and AVNM Ventures, alongside individual investors such as PhysicsWallah co-founders Prateek Maheshwari and Alakh Pandey, and MediaMint co-founder Aditya Vuchi.

Hunar.AI plans to direct the new capital towards strengthening its AI infrastructure, developing its products and expanding its go-to-market operations.

The company serves businesses across several sectors, including quick commerce, e-commerce, logistics, mobility, financial services, healthcare and retail. These industries often need to recruit and coordinate large numbers of frontline employees, creating opportunities for automation.

Why voice AI hiring matters

AI-powered recruitment tools are emerging as a potential solution for businesses managing high-volume hiring. Automating repetitive tasks could help employers handle applications and communicate with candidates more efficiently.

Voice-based systems may be particularly useful for workers who prefer speaking in their regional language rather than completing lengthy digital forms. However, automated recruitment also raises questions about candidate privacy, screening accuracy and the need for human oversight in hiring decisions.

With its latest funding, Hunar.AI is looking to expand its presence in the growing market for enterprise AI agents. Its progress will depend on how effectively its technology helps businesses improve recruitment and workforce management at scale.
