Steam is introducing Achievement Sets to help PC gamers track their progress, organize challenges and compare achievements with friends. Valve announced the feature on October 15, 2026, alongside a redesigned achievements page in the Steam Client beta.

Steam separates game and DLC achievements

The new system allows developers to group achievements into separate sets for different game modes, expansions and other content. Each set has its own progress bar and completion trophy, making it easier for players to track their accomplishments.

One major change concerns downloadable content (DLC). Previously, new achievements could reduce a player’s overall completion percentage after an expansion was released. Achievement Sets allow developers to separate DLC progress from the base game, helping players track both independently.

Valve also says completed sets will remain marked as complete when developers add new achievements.

Seasonal challenges and friend comparisons

Steam Achievement Sets can also support seasonal challenges. Developers can archive achievements that are no longer available, while players who previously unlocked them can continue displaying their accomplishments.

The redesigned achievements page introduces search filters for finding specific sets and unlocked or locked achievements. Players can also compare their progress with up to three friends.

Completed sets can appear on Steam profiles, while the existing Perfect Games tab has been renamed Completed to reflect the expanded system.

Steam Achievement Sets roll out in beta

The features are available through the Steam Client beta, but developers must support Achievement Sets for them to appear in their games.

The update could make achievement tracking more convenient for completionists, particularly in games that receive frequent expansions and seasonal updates. Its wider impact will depend on how many developers adopt the system.
