The latest teaser offers a brief look at the action-adventure game developed by Crystal Dynamics in collaboration with Flying Wild Hog. Amazon Game Studios is publishing the title.
The footage highlights familiar elements of Lara Croft’s adventures, including combat and traversal through dangerous environments. In addition, it offers glimpses of iconic moments inspired by the original game.
The teaser was first shown during Tomb Raider’s 30th-anniversary celebrations in Derby, England, and at MCM Comic Con in London. It subsequently appeared online, giving a wider audience a look at the upcoming remake.
A modern reimagining of the original Tomb Raider
Legacy of Atlantis revisits Lara Croft’s first adventure, originally released in 1996. However, the new version goes beyond a simple visual upgrade.
Built using Unreal Engine 5, the game features redesigned environments, updated graphics and modernised gameplay systems. The developers have also reworked puzzles and expanded environments to offer more opportunities for exploration.
Players will revisit locations inspired by the original adventure, including Peru, Greece, Egypt and Atlantis. Meanwhile, familiar encounters have been reimagined to suit modern gameplay.
The aim is to preserve the atmosphere of Lara’s original journey while introducing new ways to explore, solve puzzles and fight enemies.
Combat and exploration receive modern updates
Combat remains an important part of the experience, with Lara’s signature dual pistols and acrobatic movements returning. Furthermore, the game introduces a Focus system that allows players to slow down time during certain combat encounters.
Exploration also receives an update. Expanded environments and redesigned puzzles are intended to give players more freedom when navigating locations and discovering hidden secrets.
These changes could help the remake appeal to longtime fans as well as players experiencing Lara Croft’s original adventure for the first time.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis release date and platforms
